"What does it take to be a home inspector. "
My whole life has prepared me to be a "home Inspector". I worked with my father who was a part time home builder and full-time remodeling contractor. I followed his footsteps.
My 1st job in the industry was working in a lumber yard in Lexington, Kentucky. I later worked for a local HVAC company and then a company that built "prefabricated" apartment buildings.
I joined "The United States Marine Corps" in 1969 and gave them 3 years active service and 3 years inactive service.
In 1976 I graduated from "Eastern Kentucky University". I obtained a degree in "Industrial Technology" with an emphasis in Architecture.
After graduation I reentered the construction industry with my father. We built new homes, but our primary work was remodeling existing homes and some commercial construction. I obtained an apprentice electrical license and then a journeyman's license under my father's contractor's license.
In 1978 I started my own construction company. Like my father I was a part time home builder and a full-time remodeling contractor. I built approximately 25 homes during my construction experience. Most were built in the Lexington area, but I also built in Eastern Kentucky.
In 1998 I decided to leave the construction industry but an acquaintance, Steve Pruitt, contacted me to see if I would be interested in becoming a "home inspector." Here I am, 25 years later, still inspecting homes. I enjoy it, I'm confident in my ability and I plan to continue as long as I provide a great service.
Let me serve you.
